It operates by heating the sample in a closed reactor with a strong oxidizing agent such as potassium dichromate (K2Cr2O7) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4). The sample and oxidizing agent are heated to a high temperature, which leads to the oxidation of organic matter present in the sample. Digital COD Digester is also equipped with a digital timer, temperature controller, and temperature sensor. The timer can be programmed to set the time and temperature required for the oxidation reaction. The temperature sensor ensures accuracy in temperature measurement.
